Also, I would like to offer my help, free of charge to anyone looking to by a pet as a birthday gift or in general for that matter.
No, I don’t sell any and will not profit from this service in any way. (Aside from hissing cockroaches and the majority of their fee is for their set up)
This help includes:
• Discussion of the type of pet that best suits your wants and lifestyle.
• Basic care and set up info.
• Shops and rescues I would suggest you go to.
• Product suggestions and money savers.
• Any other questions and concerns you would like to discuss.
If you would like more hands-on help, such as physically setting up the enclosure, fixing/ tweaking any enclosure parameters, finding the specific individual pet you want to purchase, or helping to make any in-person or online purchases, that will be at a fee but know that I am happy to do everything I can to make sure your ready for your new family member. The fee will vary based on your needs and time taken but I am more interested in helping you than the money.
I am offering this service because in far too many cases I have seen people look for help at their local pet shops to fill this need. Unfortunately, not all but many times, the employee knows very little outside of the brochures they offer and those are not very helpful most of the time. People end up with pets who don’t thrive and they don’t know why. Or they find out better info after the purchase has already been made and realize this pet wasn’t the right fit for their family. More and more professionals and hobbyists are putting out better info on the internet, but if you don’t know exactly what you are looking for or what to avoid, it can still be very difficult.
A great start for pet info is Clint’s Reptiles on YOUTUBE. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH18915fTE6yZzKrqdea8RQ

While shopping at chain pet stores for a pet is an option, and I have purchased from them, they aren’t necessarily the best route. Many of these come from mass raised situations or even exported depending on the species. They are much more stressed out than an animal that has been raised by a local breeder. Also, rehoming and rescue options are great because, hopefully, they already have a good start on life and are healthy, also it gives the animal a good home while creating space to continue to help more animals. Two of my ambassador animals are from rescues and are truly wonderful pets.
